When the clothing comes home
smelling like purple sage
even though I didn’t
brush or pluck
or swim right through it
then I know the hills are alive
and covered with pollen and blooms
then the dried husks of grasses
glistening in the wind
are my string orchestra
Which will I remember more–
the dancing sounds of wild color
or the non sequitur Chinese food
